Masterships

The ASCP also honored six individuals with ASCP Masterships at the ASCP Annual Meeting, on Thursday, October 29 at 11:45 AM.

The Mastership designations serve to honor those distinguished ASCP members who have made significant contributions to the field of pathology and laboratory medicine and to the ASCP. Eligibility is based on years of ASCP membership, significant career accomplishments, and contributions to the Society and to the profession.

McDonald Receives 2009 ASCP Ward Burdick Award
Jay M. McDonald, MD, FASCP, will receive the 2009 ASCP Ward Burdick Award for Distinguished Service to Clinical Pathology. The award recognizes an ASCP member who has made a significant contribution to pathology through sustained service to the profession and ASCP.


DeMay to receive 2009 ASCP H.P. Smith Award
Richard Mac DeMay, MD, FASCP, will receive ASCP's 2009 H.P. Smith Award for Distinguished Pathology Educator. The award is given to an ASCP Fellow member who has had a distinguished career in pathology and laboratory medicine, embracing education, research and administration, as well as service to organized pathology.
