ASCP Membership Benefits Enhance Career Development

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

ASCP is introducing new membership options designed to enhance laboratory professionals’ career development.

The Society packs a terrific value of benefits into the $99 annual membership option which is available for all certified laboratory professionals. All members participating in a certification maintenance program, including $99 annual members, will be able to use re.member to manage recertification and find/track CE.

The Society has a new journal app, so that members can receive Laboratory Medicine and Critical Values on their phones and tablets.

The Society is introducing a new journal app for 2014 so that members may receive the periodicals on their cell phones or tablets. Digital versions of Lab Medicine and Critical Values will be available for Apple and Android-based devices. Laboratory professionals also have the option of receiving a copy of the journals in the mail. To select both, they would simply pay an additional $10.

Individuals who have earned their first certification within the last three years can take advantage of the new $49 annual membership option, which offers full membership benefits at an introductory rate.

The membership option that offers the greatest value is the three-year, $349 membership, which includes unlimited CE’s and much more. This membership plan also includes app or print versions of ASCP’s subscription journals, and the member’s recertification application fee to the Board of Certification (BOC)—a $75 value!

Also popular are several new “add-ons,” which increase the value of a laboratory professionals’ membership for a small, additional fee. One add-on provides a sampler package of three Laboratory Management University (LMU) courses for an additional $50. The LMU Core Competency package is for laboratory professionals looking to improve their competency in lab management and advance in their career. The sample courses include personnel management, operations, and leadership.

“Lab Management University is so unique and so new, yet it is clearly resonating very well with our laboratory professionals’ needs,” says Eric Parks, ASCP Director of Education Design and Technology. “This sample package will allow others to learn more about this valuable program.”

For an additional $30, you can select an option to receive unlimited continuing education credits. To learn more, or to renew your membership today, click here.
