ASCP leaders’ advocacy on behalf of pathology and the medical laboratory profession is gaining nationwide media attention. Modern Healthcare recently published a commentary, Teamwork key to reducing lab-results errors, by ASCP President Steven Kroft, MD, FASCP. Meanwhile, a Yahoo! Health article, High-Tech Breakthroughs in Patient Safety about how hospitals are using technology to improve patient safety mentions an AJCP article about a study conducted by the Cleveland Clinic on duplicative testing. The rising stars of the medical laboratory who have been named ASCP’s 40 Under 40 finalists are being recognized for their achievements as well. KASA-TV (FOX), a television station in Albuquerque, N.M., covered the 40 Under 40 story on its morning show and conducted an in-studio interview with honoree Rama Gullapalli, MD. The Daily Tribune (Bahrain): On a Mission to Save Lives, features Eman Talaq, MLS(ASCP)CM, the Roanoke Times features Kimberly Whiter, MLS(ASCP)CM in Names and changes, and the Tampa Tribune features Ashraf Dehlawi, H(ASCP)CM, in Achievers. Investors.com ran a story about the Siemens–ASCP Scholarship Award recipients, who are pursuing careers in laboratory medicine.
