WHAT IS ASCP?

 

Founded in 1922 in Chicago, the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is the world’s largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals. ASCP provides excellence in education, certification, and advocacy on behalf of patients, anatomic and clinical pathologists, and medical laboratory professionals.

Lotte Mulder

Lotte Mulder, PhD

Lotte Mulder is the Senior Manager of Organizational Leadership and Patient Engagement at ASCP and a certified Patient Advocate. She earned her Masters of Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2013, where she focused on Leadership and Group Development. After she graduated, Lotte started her own consulting company focused on establishing leadership practices in organizations, creating effective organizational structures, and interpersonal coaching. She has worked in Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the U.S. on increasing leadership skills in young adults through cultural immersion, service learning and refugee issues, and cross-cultural interpretation. She is currently working toward a PhD in Organizational Leadership. Lotte is passionate about patient empowerment and believes that high quality health care can be achieved through educating patients, advocates, and caregivers.
Nam Nguyen

Nam Nguyen

Nam Nguyen is the Executive Director of Programs and Affiliated Organizations at ASCP. He is a creative marketing and advertising professional with over 20 years of experience for a broad scope of industries including medical, financial, airlines, technology, and hospitality. Nam has over 8 years of experience with ASCP and has been involved in a variety of initiatives throughout every area of the organization from marketing, communications, continuing professional development, global health, advocacy, and governance.
Sophia Lewin Adams

Sophia Lewin Adams

Sophia Lewin Adams (she/her/hers) is the Project Coordinator for Patient Champions. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, where she studied Marketing and Theatre Production. After years of working in theatre and film production, she was inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic to pursue a career in healthcare. She is interested in promoting understanding of the healthcare system, breaking down barriers to fair and equitable treatment, and harnessing the power of storytelling to educate and empower patients.
Ali Brown

Ali Brown, MD, FASCP

Dr. Ali Brown is the Chief Medical Officer of the American Society for Clinical Pathology. She leads product development and strategic initiatives for the ASCP Center for Quality and Patient Safety. She is an anatomic and clinical pathologist with fellowship training in surgical pathology and breast pathology and is a diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Clinical Informatics. Dr. Brown has hands-on pathology practice experience in academic medicine, multihospital healthcare systems, rural community hospitals and tertiary cancer center settings. She has extensive experience in performance improvement and data analytics, leading quality improvement teams in pathology and other medical specialties, quality measures development and implementation, developing a continuous quality improvement web-based curriculum and certificate program, and designing dashboards for laboratory performance and business analytics.
