Serologic Testing May Be Able To Assess Individual Susceptibility To COVID-19 Infection, Guide Booster Scheduling, Study Finds
May 03, 2024
Infectious Disease Advisor (5/2, Chan) reports, “Serologic testing may allow individual-level assessment of susceptibility to COVID-19 infection and guide optimal booster scheduling, according to study results published in the Journal of Medical Virology.” According to the study, “the relative rate of infection was higher in participants with antibody levels lower than 250 AU/mL relative to those with levels above 800 AU/mL (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR], 2.4; 95% CI, 1.5-3.7). Antibody levels between 250 and 800 vs above 800 AU/mL were also associated with a higher relative rate of infection, albeit to a lesser extent (aHR, 1.5; 95% CI, 0.98-2.4).”
