ASCP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award

This award has been established by the ASCP Diversity and Inclusion Committee Awareness Workgroup. Each year, ASCP will recognize one member who has made significant strides to promote the ideals of diversity, inclusion, and equity.

Award Conditions

  • Active member of ASCP
  • If a member of the Awards committee is nominated, he/she will recuse himself/herself from the selection process
  • Nominations will be kept for consideration for 3 consecutive years
  • Cannot have been the recipient of the award in the previous 5 years

For consideration, nominees should exemplify excellence in diversity and inclusion including, but not limited to:

  • Lead efforts directed in recruitment, retention, and education of diverse membership and/or work staff
  • Mentor membership and coworkers from underrepresented groups and providing such mentoring opportunities for others in the workplace and/or community
  • Educate membership and/or coworkers on matters of inclusion and diversity through orientations, trainings, professional development, speaker engagements, conferences, and seminars
  • Participate in research initiatives that focus on and expands upon diversity, inclusivity, and equity
  • Develop programs aimed at tolerance and inclusivity while eliminating discrimination, inequalities, biases, exclusion, and unacceptable/offensive behaviors based on race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability, socioeconomic background, and religious beliefs

To celebrate the honoree’s distinguished achievements, ASCP will:

  • Provide complimentary registration to ASCP Annual Meeting and a stipend to assist with travel and lodging
  • Issue an elegant, engraved trophy to commemorate this honor
  • Highlight the honoree’s accomplishments on the ASCP website and in an ASCP publication or newsletter

Nominate a Member or Apply

Complete an ASCP Award Nomination Form. Nominator can submit nomination that requires a 250-500 word letter of support detailing:

  • How the nominee promotes diversity and inclusion and the extent their efforts have contributed to the ideals therein
  • Specific examples of the nominee’s qualities, achievements, and contributions towards diversity and inclusion whether by service, leadership, research and/or education
  • CV/resume of the nominee is required
  • Self-nominations are also permittable and are to include letter and CV/resume
  • Nominations will be reviewed by the ASCP Awards Committee and the selected candidate will be approved by the ASCP Diversity and Inclusion Committee
