Quality & Patient Safety Steering Committee

The Quality & Patient Safety Steering Committee focuses on developing solution strategies for the goals within the ASCP Center for Quality & Patient Safety and ensuring the availability of high-quality resources for our members and patients. Additionally, the committee refines the NPQR by maximalizing its capabilities to enhance usability and improve the specialty's quality of patient care. The Quality & Patient Safety Steering Committee, and the ASCP Center for Quality & Patient Safety is comprised under the following pillars:

  1. Data Use/Integration
  2. Continuous Quality Improvement Education
  3. Creating a Culture of Quality in the Laboratory

Reports To

ASCP Commission on Science, Technology & Public Policy (CSTP)

Time Commitment

The committee holds bimonthly conference calls and one face-to-face meeting during the ASCP Leadership Forum.

Composition

Appointed by the Commission on Science, Technology & Public Policy with the advice and consent of the Quality & Patient Safety Steering Committee, the committee includes a chair, that works to ensure that the following are represented within the committee:

  • Laboratory Professionals
  • Laboratory Training Program Educators
  • Pathologists
  • Researchers/Advocates

Terms

Chair: one year terms, renewable up to five times for a total of six years

Member: three year terms, renewable once for a total of six years
