Herpes Zoster, Postherpetic Neuralgia Associated With High Disease Burden, Study Finds

Infectious Disease Advisor (6/18, McSwiggin) reported, “Herpes zoster (HZ) and postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) are associated with a high disease burden and most frequently observed among older adults, women, and immunocompromised patients, according to study results published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases.” In the study, researchers wrote, “Greater efforts are needed to increase vaccine uptake against HZ, especially for those at highest risk.”
