Complement Proteins Appear To Be Elevated In Patients With Myasthenia Gravis, Study Finds

Rare Disease Advisor (8/19, Jaimes) reports, “Complement proteins C3a and C5b9 appear to be elevated in patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) and could serve as biomarkers for complement activation, according to a...study.” The data showed that patients with MG “had higher plasma levels of C3a, C5b9, C5, and FI.” Additionally, “properverdin levels were significantly lower in patients with MG than in healthy controls.” The findings were published in Muscle and Nerve.
