HPV Vaccination Highly Effective For Preventing Anal HPV Infections In HIV-Negative MSM, With VE Higher Among Those Vaccinated At Younger Ages, Results Show

Infectious Disease Advisor (9/17, Kuhns) reports, “Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination is highly effective for preventing anal HPV infections in HIV-negative men who have sex with men (MSM), with vaccine effectiveness (VE) increased among those who are vaccinated at younger ages,” study results show. Researchers found that “for patients vaccinated after 26 years of age who indicated at least 2 years had passed since first vaccination, estimated VE rates against 4vHPV and 9vHPV were 34% and 44%, respectively.” These results were published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases.
