WHO Says About 30K Suspected Mpox Infections Reported In Africa This Year

Reuters (9/23, Rigby) says, “Nearly 30,000 suspected mpox cases have been reported in Africa so far this year, most of them in Democratic Republic of Congo where tests have run out, the World Health Organization said on Monday.” In its report, the WHO said in excess of 800 individuals died due to suspected mpox in Africa during the timeframe. The organization also said that Burundi, a neighbor of Congo, has been impacted by an expanding outbreak.
