Weight Gain In Patients With HIV Following Switch To INSTI-Based ART Is Greater In Women Vs Men, Analysis Finds

Infectious Disease Advisor (11/25, Nye) reports, “In HIV management, weight change following a switch to integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI)-based antiretroviral therapy (ART) is 2-fold higher in women than in men over a 5-year period.” The researchers’ “final analysis comprised 223 men and 411 women who switched to or added INSTIs to their regimen, 412 men and 709 women who remained on non-INSTI-based ART, and 891 men and 818 women without HIV infection.” The findings were published in Clinical Infectious Diseases.
