Influenza, COVID-19 Vaccination Rates Are Low Among Healthcare Personnel, Study Suggests

Pulmonology Advisor (12/2, Stong) reports, “Among health care personnel, influenza vaccination has not returned to 2019 levels, and COVID-19 vaccinations have been decreasing, according to a study.” Researchers found that “influenza vaccination coverage was 80.7% for about 8.8 million health care personnel working in 4114 acute care hospitals, with the lowest rate (65.7%) in licensed independent practitioners.” Meanwhile, “COVID-19 vaccination coverage in 2023–24 was 15.3% overall in about 8.0 million health care personnel from 4112 acute care hospitals, with the lowest rate (12.7%) in licensed independent practitioners.” The findings were published in Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
