Renal & Urology News (12/4, Persaud) reports, “The presence of anti-phospholipid antibodies and a high activity index on kidney biopsy predict increased risk of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in patients with lupus nephritis (LN), investigators reported.” The researchers found that “in an adjusted multivariate logistic regression analysis, the presence of anti-phospholipid antibodies and a high Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index-2K score at kidney biopsy were significantly associated with 2.2- and 1.1-fold increased odds of ESKD, respectively.” The findings were presented at the ACR Convergence conference.
