Healio (12/5, Stonehill) reports, “Among veterans with chronic hepatitis B virus infection, rates of hepatitis D virus testing were low and those with concurrent infection were at greater risk for cirrhosis and hepatic decompensation, according to study results.” One researcher said, “Patients who were positive for HDV infection had significant greater risk of progression to cirrhosis and hepatic decompensation, emphasizing that HDV infection in patients with known chronic HBV have more severe disease.” The findings were published in Gastro Hep Advances.
