Infectious Disease Advisor (12/16, Basilio) reports, “Vaccination against SARS-CoV-2 infection with the original monovalent mRNA series decreases the risk for hospitalization for COVID-19-associated venous thromboembolism (VTE), according to results of a study.” The researchers said, “In multivariable vaccine effectiveness analyses, completion of the original monovalent vaccination series was highly effective in preventing COVID-19 hospitalization associated with VTE. This effect was observed for each predominant circulating variant of SARS-CoV-2.” The findings were published in The Journal of Infectious Diseases.
