Infectious Disease Advisor (1/2, Kuhns) reports, “The prevalence of Trypanosoma cruzi infection among solid organ transplant recipients in the United States is increasing, which supports the need for improved screening protocols, according to” a study. Investigators found that “when stratified by organ type, lung (21%) and heart (14%) vs liver (6%) and kidney (5%) transplant recipients had the highest prevalence of positive serology.” The findings were published in Open Forum Infectious Diseases.
