AJCP Highlight: Assessing the Impact of Upfront Point-of-Care Testing on Emergency Department Treatment Time

Point of care testing (POCT) offers rapid turnaround-time, but in general is more expensive and less accurate than testing performed on mainline instruments. As a result, there is a tradeoff in using POCT, which means we need much better understanding of how it should be used to have an impact on patient care.
