Congress Should Enact Resident Physician Shortage Bill: ASCP
ASCP is calling on Congress to enact the Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act, which would increase Medicare support for physician residency training through graduate medical education to address the impending national physician workforce shortage. Read more.
Presidential Executive Order Poses Problems to Pathology Workforce
President Trump on June 22 signed an executive order extending the current ban on green cards issued outside the United States and adding restrictions on temporary work visas, such as the H-1B, H-4 and J-1 visas, through the end of 2020. The executive order does not affect individuals who have valid visas or those currently in the United States. Read more.
CMS provides Added Flexibility to MIPS Sought by ASCP
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that physicians can opt out either completely or partially from to 2020 MIPS program by submitting a hardship exemption application and indicating that the hardship relates to the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. Read more.
