The ASCP Annual Meeting, Sept. 3-6 in Chicago, provides you with the critical knowledge you need to stay at the cutting-edge of your profession and elevate your laboratory’s influence. From innovative techniques and emerging trends to best practices, you’ll build the skills and expertise you need to make an immediate impact in your laboratory. The schedule of education sessions is now available to view online.
“This year’s Annual Meeting promises to be exceptional,” says Kamran Mirza, MD, PhD, FASCP, MLS(ASCP), chair of the Live Learning Strategic Planning Committee and co-chair of the curriculum committee. “The big news is that the Annual Meeting has now been expanded to four full days of learning. The first day of the meeting presents two workshops that dive into the topics of artificial intelligence (AI) and Leading with Impact.
“Internationally, AI is changing the landscape of pathology and laboratory medicine,” says Dr. Mirza. “We must embrace it and be flexible in leveraging the value that it can bring to our field.
For the Leading with Impact session, ASCP is bringing in three outstanding leaders who are each at different stages of their leadership journeys. They are Sara Jiang, MD, FASCP, Associate Professor of Pathology at Duke Cancer Center, Jeff Myers, MD, MASCP, Professor of Thoracic Pathology, A. James French Professor of Diagnostic Pathology, and Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs and Quality at the University of Michigan; and Lotte Mulder, PhD, ASCP Director of Leadership and Empowerment.
Each will offer tips on how attendees can elevate their leadership skills, including setting a visionary direction for one’s team, effective communication, the importance of providing feedback, and how to develop one’s own personalized leadership plan. This workshop is designed for those who are early on in their practice so they can set the direction of their career.
Meanwhile, the education tracks have been expanded so that every attendee, from residents and medical students to seasoned pathologists and laboratory professionals, will find topics that pertain to their work. There are multiple tracks for pathologists (including surgical pathology, hematopathology, cytology), laboratory professions, laboratory administrators, and the return of the Rapid Review Series.
ASCP has developed education tracks so that all Annual Meeting attendees, from residents and medical students to seasoned pathologists and laboratory professionals, will find topics that pertain to their work.
