A new free, online course on burnout, developed by the ASCP Leadership Institute, is available for ASCP pathologist and laboratory professional members. This course is especially critical at a time when healthcare employees are working extraordinarily long shifts to care for COVID-19 patients. The course includes content discussing characteristics, causes and consequences of burnout, as well as its prevention.
The course was developed as a result of a series of research papers ASCP published on the topic of job satisfaction, well-being and burnout. Individual articles address this topic as it relates to lab professionals, pathologists and residents, and AJCP Editor-in-Chief Steven Kroft, MD, MASCP, also wrote an editorial relating to this research.
ASCP encourages everyone to take the Leadership Institute course on burnout to inform individuals in the field and help those experiencing burnout.
