The ASCP Patient Champions program brings together individuals who have personally experienced the impact of laboratory medicine and diagnostics. These patient advocates share their stories, raise awareness, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to improve patient care and outcomes.
The program maintains a
library of educational flyers to help patients understand their diagnoses and laboratory results. By learning about the laboratory, ASCP Patient Champions empower patients and caregivers to navigate their care and choose the treatments that work best for them.
The ASCP Patient Champions program has updated its library with five new flyers explaining laboratory testing related to
psoriasis,
vitiligo,
sarcomas,
small intestinal cancer, and
gender affirming care. Each flyer uses plain language to explain how a patient can expect to interact with the laboratory throughout their care. The flyers are reviewed by the
Patient Champion Scientific Review Panel for scientific accuracy and relevance.
The flyer library can be accessed for free via the Patient Champions website. To learn more about ASCP Patient Champions, click
