Infectious Disease Advisor (11/4, Basilio) reports, “Transitioning from intravenous (IV) to oral antibiotic therapy is likely effective for the management of select patients with uncomplicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia or clinically stable endocarditis, according to study findings.” In the study, “the primary outcome analysis comprised 204 oral antibiotic therapy recipients and 186 IV therapy recipients.” Researchers found that “the rate of treatment failure was 11.3% in both groups, indicating no significant difference.” The findings were published in Clinical Infectious Diseases.
