December 30, 2024
Bloomberg Law (12/27, Castronuovo, Subscription Publication) reported, “Health-care providers performing heart, lung, and other organ transplants among donors and recipients with HIV no longer have to meet certain federal research requirements, the HHS said in a final notice issued Friday.” These revisions to HHS’ “safeguards and research criteria for non-kidney and non-liver organs from donors with HIV for transplantation in recipients with HIV include the removal of a requirement that a transplant program conduct over a four-year period five organ-specific transplants of organs from a donor without HIV in a recipient with HIV.”
