ASCP recently contacted House Energy and Commerce Chair Frank Pallone, Jr., Ranking Member Greg Walden and members of the Committee on Energy and Commerce about H.R. 3630, the No Surprises Act. In a letter drafted by the American Medical Association and signed by ASCP and over 100 other specialty societies, we urged the inclusion of a fair and equitable, independent dispute resolution process in a legislative compromise on the surprise billing issue. The organizations who signed on to the letter believe this provision would provide a more balanced approach that protects providers and patients alike.
ASCP remains active in advocating for patients and pathologists as we monitor surprise billing legislation making its way through the process. We will encourage members to take action at the appropriate moment, and will keep all apprised of any developments as they arise.
