Check Out Our Workforce and Career Advancement Programs at ASCP 2022!

August 10, 2022

This year, ASCP is offering new and exciting programs at the ASCP 2022 Annual Meeting Workforce and Career Advancement Lounge. Workforce planning can benefit your organization and you by integrating effective strategies to expand organizational development, culture, and retention efforts, and those who are seeking career growth and new employment. This lounge will also offer an opportunity to network with others to exchange ideas and connect on a variety of different topics. In addition, at ASCP 2022, Sept. 7–9, in Chicago, you’ll have access to tools and resources for professional development, practical advice, applications for pathologists and laboratory professionals who are recruiting new employees, and more!

Here is a brief overview:

Professional Mentor Sessions

Annual Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to connect with ASCP members who are available to offer professional guidance on topics including workforce planning, improving desired skills, career advancement within the laboratory, and networking outside of the laboratory. These 30-minute sessions will be conducted as live, one-on-one meetings where volunteers share their knowledge and expertise in the fields of pathology and laboratory medicine.

Mock Interview Sessions
A mock interview imitates an actual job interview and gives individuals an opportunity to practice their skills, mannerisms, and body language during an interview, and to also receive feedback. These mock interviews will be held as live, one-on-one 30-minute sessions where volunteers will be responsible for facilitating, asking questions and giving feedback to the attendees who participate.

Professional Mentor and Mock Interview Sessions will be held in a designated boardroom at the hotel. If being a mentor and/or a mock interviewer is something you are interested in, please fill out this form and we will contact you with further details.

Education Sessions and Round Tables
Other highlights include new education sessions, such as Peer to Supervisor Transitions, on September 7, at 2:45 p.m., and Best Practices for Recruiting a Diverse Workplace, on September 8 at 2:55 p.m. Annual Meeting attendees can also attend Round table discussions where they can learn about current research and issues around retention and well-being in the laboratory.
