ASCP’s New Directory Puts Networking Resources at Members’ Fingertips

April 19, 2024

ASCP has launched a new Membership Directory that serves as a resource to help members locate colleagues within the ASCP Community. ASCP members specifically requested ways to connect with each other and build their networks in their responses to a recent ASCP member survey.

“Building a professional network not only allows you to have access to support but also facilitates personal and professional growth through shared experiences and insights,” says Stephanie Whitehead, MBA, MPH, MLS(ASCP)CM, Chair of the ASCP Council of Laboratory Professionals.

“It is important that we are building the programs, tools, and resources that members want,” adds Natalie Sherry, ASCP Senior Director of Membership. “Based on the feedback they have shared in the member survey, they are seeking to start building relationships with one another, and this tool does exactly that.”

The ASCP Member Directory can be accessed via the ASCP Online Communities and is a benefit that allows all ASCP members to locate other members. Within the Online Communities, members can conduct a basic search, if they already know a bit of information about the individual they are seeking. They can also conduct an advanced search if they are casting a broader net, seeking to make connections with, say, hematopathologists who live in Missouri. Members then have the options of sending the member with whom they would like to connect a message and adding that person as a contact.

“This is a way for our members to expand their networks,” Ms. Whitehead says. “Networking involves actively connecting with professionals in your field to create mutually beneficial relationships. These relationships are important for career advancement as they open doors to opportunities, foster knowledge exchange, and enhance visibility for you within your profession.”
